Why Covington Homes Need Year-Round HVAC Service

Covington sits in the heart of St. Tammany Parish, where subtropical heat and humidity create relentless demand on residential HVAC systems. For Covington homeowners, sustained heat and humidity mean air conditioning systems work hard for months at a time.

High humidity compounds the problem. When moisture levels stay elevated indoors, evaporator coils work harder, drain lines clog faster, and indoor air quality degrades. Many homes across Covington and the surrounding area carry ductwork that can lose conditioned air, driving up energy bills and straining equipment. Drinkard Air Conditioning and Heating has been serving the Northshore for three decades.

The company was recently passed to Steven Serpas and his brother-in-law in 2024, carrying forward the same fair-and-honest approach the business was built on. When you call Drinkard Air Conditioning and Heating, you reach the people who actually do the work. Not a call center. Not a subcontractor. Local technicians who live and work on the Northshore.

We serve residential and commercial customers across Covington, Mandeville, Madisonville, Folsom, Abita Springs, Slidell, and Franklinton. We also support landlords, building managers, and rental property owners who need a reliable HVAC partner. Drinkard Air Conditioning and Heating sponsors local sports teams and contributes to community charities throughout St. Tammany Parish because this is our community too.

Drinkard Air Conditioning and Heating provides emergency HVAC service throughout Covington, LA. When your system stops cooling on a hot Louisiana afternoon or your heat fails on a cold January night, our technicians are available for emergency calls.

What to Expect During an Emergency HVAC Call

When you call for emergency service, a technician will contact you before arrival to confirm access and gather details about the problem. Most emergency diagnostics are completed within one hour on-site. After-hours and weekend calls are billed at a separate rate of $195, which covers dispatch and diagnostics.

Common emergency calls we handle in Covington include systems running but not cooling, outside condenser units that have stopped operating, refrigerant leaks, blower motor failures, and capacitor issues. Our service vehicles carry the components needed to resolve the majority of these problems during the same visit.

Covington HVAC Maintenance Plans

The most effective way to avoid emergency calls is a scheduled maintenance agreement. Our service agreement starts at $150 for a single system and $95 for each additional system. Each visit includes condenser coil cleaning, refrigerant check, capacitor inspection, drain line cleaning, evaporator coil service, and motor inspection. Members receive a 10 percent discount on parts and service and receive priority scheduling over non-members.

Commercial maintenance contracts are individually priced based on the number of units and service frequency. Quarterly, semi-annual, and annual options are available for building managers and property owners throughout Covington.
